"Notes of ripe strawberries and cherries with spicy herbs, hibiscus and crushed rocks. Medium- to full-bodied, tense and concentrated with red fruit character and savory juiciness. Bright finish. Drink or hold."

"The 2021 Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands) is a terrific introduction to this range. Bright red-toned fruit, cedar, pipe tobacco and dried herbs all open effortlessly. There's lovely savory/earthy complexity to play of the bright fruit. This is a very complex, nuanced appellation-level bottling."

"Big bold nose of red berries with spice notes. Bright and fresh on the attack with cola nut and tea notes complementing dark red berry/cherry fruit. A young, fruit driven wine that still needs to settle down, but it should age well with all that fruit. Matured 10 months in 39% new French oak."

"Very young yet holding nothing back in the way of juicy, very well-defined fruit, Testarossa’s appellation bottling from the Santa Lucia Highlands is a solid and serious Pinot Noir that delivers the goods both on the nose and in its persistent, fruit-focused flavors. It tempts drinking now, and we would be loath to refuse a glass or two tonight, but, given a choice, we would hold off pulling its cork for another few years with absolute faith in its future."

"Testarossa’s winemaker, Bill Brosseau, makes the winery’s Santa Lucia Highlands bottling of pinot noir from several different vineyards in the AVA. The wine was raised in thirty-nine percent new oak for ten months in 2021 and comes in at 14.1 percent octane. It offers up a very pretty, red fruity nose of cherries, beetroot, peonies, a nice touch of dark soil tones, a discreet touch of oak and incipient notes of cola in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, fullish and nicely balanced, with a pretty core of fruit, good soil undertow, modest tannins, tangy acids and just a hint of backend heat perking up the long finish. I really like the backend lift here. This is a lovely bottle. (Drink between 2023-2055)."

"Oak-forward, this wine has smoky, dusty tannins adorning tart raspberry fruit, with a texture that’s surprisingly lean. A good foil for a chicken wrap with sundried tomatoes."
